Licensing

Any business that operates in the entertainment and leisure industry needs to ensure it has the correct licences in place. Any business owner will be aware of the potential consequences and costs of errors during the licensing application process. The potential pitfalls have increased following the new Licensing Act 2003.

The new Licensing Act 2003 transfers responsibility for licensing premises and persons selling alcohol from the courts to local authorities. The overall aim of the Act is to modernise existing legislation governing the sale and supply of alcohol, the licensing of public entertainment and the provision of late night refreshment.

We can assist you with all of your licensing requirements, from routine to more complex matters. This may include the initial stages of making an application, making an appeal to the local magistrates if required and operational issues.

We can help with your application to the local council for the issue of a single Premises Licence that will now control the licensable activities. In addition, we are able to apply on behalf of the individual running the premises for a Personal Licence to do so.
